We had the pleasure of catching up with the ever-entertaining Caity Baser, who sat down for a lively and engaging chat with our very own Karen at SMN. Their conversation was filled with laughter, insightful stories, and plenty of memorable moments.

Good afternoon – though I suppose it’s almost evening now. Welcome!
Caity Baser:
Hello! My name is Karen, and I represent the Scottish Music Network. Today, I have the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Caity Baser for a chat. I must admit, I was a little nervous about pronouncing your name correctly!
Caity Baser:
No worries at all – you got it just right!
Karen:
It’s such a distinctive and memorable name.
Caity Baser:
Thank you! I really like it, too. It has a lovely, feminine sound to it.
Karen:
Caity Baser – it’s wonderful. Thank you for joining us today. How are you feeling ahead of your performance? Are you excited about the show?
Caity Baser:
I’m beyond excited! Honestly, I’m trying my best to stay calm, but I’m absolutely buzzing with energy. Am I nervous? Not at all. There’s truly nowhere I’d rather be than on stage. Every time I step out there, my main thought is, “How can I make everyone in the crowd smile?” I’ll do anything for that connection – it’s pure joy for me. As long as I’m singing, I feel completely at home.
Karen:
That’s wonderful to hear. Will you be debuting any new songs during your set tonight?
Caity Baser:
Yes, I will! I’ve been working on a number of new tracks lately, and I thought tonight would be the perfect opportunity to share some of them live for the first time. It’s a bit of a risk, but that’s what makes it so exciting. Plus, you’ll be among the very first to hear them!
Karen:
That’s fantastic. Are there any other festivals or events lined up on your schedule?
Caity Baser:
Absolutely! I’m performing at another festival in Dumfries next weekend, and I have a few headline shows coming up as well. I’ll also be taking part in several Pride events, in addition to more festivals later in the summer. It’s a busy time, but I couldn’t be happier.
Karen:
It sounds like everything is progressing at just the right pace – not too fast, not too slow.
Caity Baser:
Exactly. Things are falling into place really nicely.
Karen:
Are you always working on new music, or do you take breaks to recharge?
Caity Baser:
I’m always creating something, whether it’s songwriting in the studio, working on a musical project, or even choreographing dance routines. I thrive on creativity and love keeping myself engaged with new ideas.
Karen:
I’ve noticed you’ve recently collaborated with artists like Bernadette Sade. How have those collaborative experiences been for you?
Caity Baser:
Collaborating is honestly my favourite aspect of making music. I love every part of it – even just watching other artists perform is incredibly inspiring. Being able to work with musicians I’ve admired for years is such a privilege. It broadens my perspective and fuels my creativity.
Karen:
That sounds amazing. Is there an album or another significant project in the works that fans can look forward to?
Caity Baser:
I’m definitely working towards something bigger. The process is a little chaotic – things move rapidly in the music industry – but I’m spending a lot of time in the studio developing new material. There’s definitely a cohesive body of work coming together, so stay tuned!
Karen:
I hope you have a fantastic show tonight. I’ll do my best to catch your set – there’s so much happening at the festival, but I’ll certainly try to make it over.
