Karen had the opportunity to speak with Abbie Gordon, the talented musician from Irvine, following her outstanding performance on the BBC Introducing stage. Here are Abbie’s thoughts on the experience:

Good afternoon, my name is Karen from Scottish Music Network, and I’m delighted to be sitting down with Abbie Gordon today. How are you, Abbie?
Abbie Gordon:
I’m great, thank you! How are you?
Karen – Scottish Music Network:
I’m excellent; thank you for asking. Have you been enjoying the weather?
Abbie Gordon:
Yes, it’s been really lovely.
Karen – Scottish Music Network:
Welcome to a sunny Glasgow!
Abbie Gordon:
I know! Who would have expected it?
Karen – Scottish Music Network:
Absolutely! So, how were you feeling before you went on stage? Were you nervous, excited, or maybe a bit of both?
Abbie Gordon:
I was definitely excited, but also really nervous. I always get quite anxious before performing, and since I’m still fairly new to playing live, the nerves tend to kick in. But once I was up there, I had so much fun.
Karen – Scottish Music Network:
Opening the stage is a significant role. Did that add to your nerves at all?
Abbie Gordon:
A little bit, yes, but overall it was such a positive experience, and I genuinely enjoyed it.
Karen – Scottish Music Network:
I managed to catch your set, and I was truly impressed by your performance and your distinctive voice.
Abbie Gordon:
Thank you so much; that means a lot.
Karen – Scottish Music Network:
Not at all. I noticed your music draws influence from artists like Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo. Did you perform any new material today?
Abbie Gordon:
I did – there were a couple of unreleased tracks in my set, but for the most part, I played songs that I’ve released recently.
Karen – Scottish Music Network:
That’s great to hear. Are you scheduled for any more festival appearances this year?
Abbie Gordon:
Actually, this is my only festival so far this year, and it’s one of the first festivals I’ve ever played.
Karen – Scottish Music Network:
Have you had the chance to explore the festival grounds yet?
Abbie Gordon:
Not yet, unfortunately – I haven’t had the opportunity so far.
Karen – Scottish Music Network:
Do you plan to take a look around?
Abbie Gordon:
Absolutely, after this I’m looking forward to a walk around, grabbing some food, and soaking in the atmosphere.
Karen – Scottish Music Network:
Will you be staying to catch any of the other performances?
Abbie Gordon:
Yes, I’m really excited to see CMAT. I think she’s going to be fantastic.
Karen – Scottish Music Network:
She’s been here a couple of times before, and she’s always brilliant. Do you have any other upcoming shows?
Abbie Gordon:
Yes, I have my first London gig next month – I’ll be supporting Avery Cochrane on July 13th, which I’m really looking forward to.
Karen – Scottish Music Network:

Are you constantly working on new music?
Abbie Gordon:
Yes, I write all the time, whether I’m at home or in the studio. Songwriting is something I’m always drawn to.
