Sometimes a band or artist that you must see comes to your town… tonight was one of those nights.
A hugely talented bunch of musicians got together to form LUST FOR LIFE and, as the name of the band suggests, their focus was on the icon that is Iggy Pop.
Clem Burke (Blondie), Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols) and Katie Puckrik (Broadcaster) reassemble for a second tour and bring some other mega talented musicians along for the ride.
Kevin Armstrong (David Bowie / Iggy Pop), internationally renowned guitarist Luis Correia and Florence Sabeva of Heaven 17 fame add to the smorgasbord of talent on show.
The band burst onto stage to the eponymous track and within seconds the crowd are on it!
Katie Puckrik is like a whirling Dervish as she confidently owns the stage… the itinerary for the night is well and truly set!
The synergy between band and audience is tangible; the noise of the crowd grows as the set continues to raise the temperature in the small(ish) venue.
The full Lust for Life album is expertly showcased but, for many in the venue, the highlights were the various covers of songs by Bowie,
Sex Pistols and Blondie… are they still covers if the person who wrote and/or played on the original is part of the group?
Covers or not… they were damned good.
St. Luke’s was absolutely rocking to bangers such as ‘Hanging on the Telephone’ and ‘Pretty Vacant’.
The event was graced with the presence of Suzi Ronson who entertained the crowd with anecdotes and stories of her times with Bowie during the Ziggy years and her marriage to Mick Ronson… very entertaining with the more than the odd laugh thrown in.
The sound and arrangements were spot on throughout and the big screen visuals added the extra touch of class.
