CONCERT REVIEW : Lyra – King Tuts Glasgow 5th May 2024

This Bank holiday weekend, head to King Tut’s to catch Ireland’s newest sensation, Lyra, who recently toured the UK with Westlife and is now promoting her self-titled album. The night will also feature support from Northern Irish artist Nadia, whose electropop sound is sure to get the crowd warmed up. As fans from Glasgow filed into the venue, the show was about to begin.

As the lights dimmed, Glasgow eagerly welcomed Nadia to the stage at King Tuts. She captivated the audience with her latest single, “Catch Me If You Can,” and had them singing along to her past hit, “Push the Button.” Her music blends soulful sounds with electropop, creating a danceable appeal. Nadia expressed her love for performing in Glasgow and at the venue. She delivered a short but memorable set, thrilled to be supporting Lyra on tour. The audience gave her a standing ovation as she exited the stage.

Soon, it was time for the Irish sensation Lyra to grace the stage. With the lights dimming, the band members took their positions as the intro music began to play. As Lyra made her way to the stage, the Glasgow audience welcomed her with open arms. She captivated the crowd with her powerful and dark song “New Day,”  setting the perfect tone for her set. Expressing her gratitude for the warm reception, Lyra introduced her next song, “Drink Me Up,”  inspired by her time in LA, USA. The audience couldn’t help but sing along and dance to the infectious tune, filling the venue with energy and excitement.

During the opening part of the set, standout moments included performances of songs like All Over Now, We Are Beautiful, and The Beloved Chess, which had the audience enthusiastically singing along. Fans were thoroughly enjoying the show, singing and dancing to Lyra’s music. Lyra herself appeared to be having the time of her life on stage, delivering an incredible vocal performance throughout her set.

People often refer to her as the “Queen of Ireland” and the “Irish Sensation,” and it’s understandable why. Her talent shines on the big stage, with incredible vocals and captivating stage presence.

She continued her performance with a mix of old and new songs that thrilled the fans, including hits like Queen and America. Throughout the set, Lyra shared stories about the songs and life in general, engaging the audience and making the experience even more enjoyable. Closing the set with standout tracks like Lose My Mind and Naked, she pleased fans with a mix of new and old songs. The crowd sang along to classics like Falling from 2019 before she ended the show with the powerful Edge of 17, leaving fans with the lyrics and music resonating in their minds as they exited the venue.
