SMN INTRODUCING: Undefeated

We’re a teen band from Lowville, New York!

Tell us about yourself.

When did the band start?

August 5th will be our 3rd “bandiversary’!

Where are you from?

We’re all from upstate New York. We live 45 minutes from the Canadian Border.

How did you start?

Believe it or not, the host of the Rock N Worship Festival in Dalton, MA, walked up to me (Meredith… the gal with green hair!). For some unknown reason he was like “hey! I want you to come sing!”. I was playing electric guitar for my church’s youth band (needless to say, it was a less-than-stellar performance).

So, I went. I had just turned 14. There were all ages and genres at the Rock N Worship Fest; from metal to reggae to gospel. Something clicked. These people were like me! I asked my younger brother (a rockin’ drummer) on the 4-hour ride home to start a band, and he said yes!

We met bassist Ian through mutual friends. (Truthfully, he literally fell -he says he jumped- out of a tree. But I guess there’s worse ways to meet people!)

We played under the banner ‘Undefeated’ for the first time August 5th, 2017 on the lawn of a bookstore.

What style of music do you class yourselves as?

Booming bass, war-like drums, and a lil bit o’ glitter. There’s a lot of classic rock and country up here, and it comes out whether we mean it to or not! So we embrace it, and make it more metal:)

Who are the biggest bands influences?

Let me tell ya how we come together. Our drummer (Christian) is a die-hard djent/metal/screamo fan. Ian’s (bassist) heart was born and raised in classic rock. You know, The Beatles, Zeppelin, the whole thing.

Then there’s me. I LOVE to sing. You can’t take a singer and stick her in one genre. The trick is melding these three sounds without losing what God gave each one. The whole is greater than the piece.

Personally, I’ve also really been loving all of Lacey Sturm’s stuff! Killer lyrics, music, the whole thing.

Are you signed to a record label?

Nope! Why, got anyone in mind?

Plans for the year.

What are the bands plans for this year?

There’s a lot going on in the world with the COVID-19 virus. It has reached every corner. Due to this, all of our shows March through May are on hold. We were booked in New Jersey, Maine, and locally. So, looking forward to rescheduling those!

Do you have any tours booked?

Definitely interested. Our drummer has two years of high school left, so there’s that. So far we travel 4-8 hours and do single shows.

New releases?

We’ve just put out the music video for our second single, Where Are You (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrXWbsn9Ey3ft62D4zVSStA). We have 3 more songs to follow this year to complete our first EP!

We had to postpone studio time for a new song that we are really excited about. It melds punk and metal into our current sound. We feel very locked into this direction!

Where do you hope to see yourself in 12 months’ time (realistic)?

We would like to try our hand at short tours (3 weeks to 3 months!).

Questions to close with.

What can people expected from your stage show if they are coming to see you live?

Our lead vocalist can flat out sing. Christian is a BEAST on the drums. The bassist adds smoooooth lines. Our show include ballads for those who like it from the heart; and some rockin’ tunes for you head-bangers. You’re not going to sit and listen to the same sound over and over.

Give us one word that you would describe your band?

          Irrevocable.

If there was one sentence that would relate to your band as a selling point what would it be?

          We won’t bore you.

Lastly, tell us your ambitions for the next 12 months?

Christian (drummer) is adding some background vocals/screams. Adding to our EP for a full album that shows the best of all our sides. Then, we would like take it on the road!
