SINGLE REVIEW : CODY JON releases his irresistibly intoxicating new single “Honey”!

On September 26th, 2025 (London, UK), independent Australian artist CODY JON shared his sweet, brand-new single “Honey”. The track draws inspiration from the aesthetics of early 2000s dance movies while telling a fictionalised story of a fleeting club romance and spontaneous encounter on a night out in Hollywood.

“Honey” showcases a seamless blend of Pop and R&B through a drum line pays an unmistakable homage to 2000s icon Justin Timberlake. The track is further enriched with jazzy horns, and cinematic strings that vividly paint the picture of a Hollywood club setting. The fusion of genres, styles and textures is something that CODY JON has seemingly mastered with remarkable attention and expertise; an impressive feat for an artist still relatively new to the scene.

More than just a song “Honey” feels like a scene, one that is steeped in reminiscence and nostalgia, a signature quality that has come to define CODY JON’s artistry. The single’s accompanying lyric video WATCH HERE  perfectly encapsulates this, bringing this dreamy vibe to life.

Through short visual snippets of a Hollywood club aesthetic, the video mirrors the track’s themes of fleeting connection and anonymity. Era-specific styling is clear in the costuming, editing, and décor, echoing the look and feel of early-2000s R&B-pop videos and reinforcing the song’s sonic homage in visual form. This nostalgic mood is heightened by the use of old-school cameras, film grain, and retro club lighting, further immersing the viewer in that throwback atmosphere.

Following the release of his debut EP, “untied shoes” in 2023, CODY JON has been steadily on the rise, carving out his place in the music industry as a purveyor or nostalgia and heartfelt reminiscence. Latest track “Honey” is definitely a great addition to his repertoire, leaving fans hungry for more.
