NEW SINGLE : MATTIEL – shares video for brand new track, ‘Those Words’.

Shares video for brand new track, ‘Those Words’.

Mattiel, the Atlanta-based band of vocalist/songwriter Mattiel Brown and guitarist/producer Jonah Swilley, return today with two original tracks for Heavenly Recordings, the magnetic new single Those Words and its towering B-Side Freedom Feels.

Talking about the track, mixed by David Wrench, Mattiel said:

I think everyone can relate to a song like Those Words – it’s really just about choosing who to give your energy to. If someone isn’t treating you with respect or crosses your boundaries, you don’t owe them anything. It’s an especially good reminder if you’re a person who tends to try to please everyone. Women are taught to do this from a very young age. It’s just not possible to make everyone happy, so you might as well sing and dance those cares away.

Today the band also premieres the vibrant Those Words video, which was directed, produced and edited by Brown herself. Talking about the video she added:

We shot this in mid March so it’s very fresh and new energy for us – we are all just so excited to get out there and play shows again. We’re a very close bunch and it’s really just us having a good time, and I think that shines through the whole thing. It feels like the light at the end of the Covid tunnel is starting to shine brighter and brighter, too. We’re almost there

Those Words / Freedom Feels will be released as a limited-edition 7” later this summer. The 7” is available to pre-order via the Heavenly bandcamp HERE.

This Friday, 30th April, also sees Mattiel perform a live stream from The Spirit & Truth Sanctuary in Decatur, Atlanta. Tickets and further details can be found HERE.

Mattiel’s second album Satis Factory was released on Heavenly Recordings in 2019, winning instant acclaim for its gritty and provocative rock-and-roll sound. Following the album release Mattiel appeared on both Later…with Jools Holland and Last Call With Carson Daly in the US, toured extensively in Europe and the US, including a stunning sold-out show at London’s EartH in July 2019 & a slot on the prestigious Park Stage at that year’s Glastonbury and made an appearance performing The Mexican by Babe Ruth at ‘The Breaks’ BBC Prom from the Royal Albert Hall in September of that year. Christmas 2019 saw them release a cover of The Ramones’ Merry Christmas (I Don’t Want To Fight Tonight) and more recently in the summer of 2020 a 7” single featuring The Beastie Boys’ Looking Down The Barrel Of A Gun and The Clash’s Guns Of Brixton
