CALUM CELEBRATES INCREDIBLE YEAR WITH
BIGGEST ABERDEEN & GLASGOW SHOWS,
NEW SONG ‘SLIDING DOORS’ AND
EXTENDED EP RELEASE DEC 5TH
UK TOUR ANNOUNCED FOR SPRING 2026
Calum Bowie has had an incredible year, since winning Breakthrough Artist at the Scottish Music Awards in November 2024. Milestones include his debut EP release, Through The Window, huge festival performances at Glastonbury, TRNSMT and Boardmasters and ever-growing tours, culminating in his biggest headline shows so far – at Aberdeen Lemon Tree on 4th December and Glasgow, Barrowland Ballroom on 5th.
To coincide with the landmark Barras show, a long-held dream gig, Calum releases stirring new song ‘Sliding Doors’ as lead track on the Extended Edition of his Through The Window EP, bringing all his 2025 music together in one impressive package.
And, yes, ‘Sliding Doors’ is very much inspired by the classic movie of the same name – although Calum hadn’t actually watched it before he wrote the song.
“My mum loves that film and we’d been talking about the concept of it not long before I wrote the song,” Calum explains. “The idea is so simple but incredibly powerful – how tiny decisions or random events dictate how your life turns out. It’s cool to think ‘what if I hadn’t taken that train or bumped into that person, or picked up a guitar one day.’ Would my life be completely different? The way the universe intertwines is so fine and fickle. I must have had it in the back of my mind because as the song came out, I realised I was singing about my own life through a similar lens. At first, we shied away from using the movie name as the song title, but we decided to lean into it – it’s cool to help people understand where your inspirations come from I think.”
“Mostly, I write from experience. The EP is really personal. It’s me. It’s my life. This is everything I’ve experienced. I’ve had lots of ups and downs – not in music, but just in personal life and lots of hard moments – and those stories are the thread that ties it all together.”
As well as Sliding Doors, the extended ‘Through The Window’ EP includes subsequent releases The World Outside and Lost, an acoustic take on Wherever She Goes and the spine-tingling Bagpipes Version of Dream Of My Own.
Calum Bowie’s path has seen him swap TikTok virality for IRL acclaim. As a student in Edinburgh during COVID, his viral cover videos – recorded from his bedroom window – connected with an audience of millions. He’s been championed by Radio 1’s Future Pop, Future Alternative, and Future Artist shows, supported the likes of Dylan Gossett, Arthur Hill, Cian Ducrot, James Arthur and Myles Smith and, ahead of his homecoming shows this December, won a load of new fans on the road with James Marriott. He even played to 14,000 at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro in November, as special guest to Nathan Evans. He’s already announced a new headline tour for February and March 2026 with, lots of new music to come.
“2025 has been great and I want the Aberdeen and Glasgow shows to be a celebration and a huge ‘thank you’ to the fans,” says Calum. “In another version of my life, there’s a guy who never picked up the guitar, never got to do all this, so I’m very thankful the sliding doors worked out this way for me.”
