Three years in the making and previewed by an array of earworm singles such as ‘Invisible Wall’ and ‘Second Best’, Jewelia today unveils her brand new alternative pop album ‘Little Wins’. The campaign has seen Jewelia earn comparisons to the likes of Caroline Polachek and MARINA as well as a surge of support spanning streaming (multiple key playlists at Spotify and Apple Music), radio (BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, Radio Kent) and tastemaker media (including Clash, CLOUT, Daily Star, EARMILK, FAULT, House of Solo, Notion, The Honey Pop, Women in Pop and Wonderland).
The 12 tracks on ‘Little Wins’ are united by a central theme: celebrating self-acceptance. We’re conditioned to believe that we can achieve anything if only we work hard enough. Yet the reality is that the demands of life and unseen circumstances often present unexpected obstacles to even our best prepared plans. Collectively, ‘Little Wins’ implores us to accept that not everything is possible and to instead celebrate the things that we have achieved: little wins are indeed important.
Jewelia says, “The whole album fluctuates between self-encouragement and unforgiving self-judgement, but overall, there’s a constant yearning for self-forgiveness, with the conclusion that we all do the best we can, and that’s ok, and we should celebrate where we are, looking back at where we came from.”
The album’s new focus track ‘Queen of Make Believe’ is a key moment of that message. It’s a flamboyant synth-pop mantra to fake-it-until-you-make-it and to crush the self-doubt that plagues you in the small hours. Jewelia’s radiant vocals exude positivity, providing an abundance of self-belief further heightened by the feelgood flow of the song’s 2020s alt-pop meets classic ‘80s/’90s synth-pop energy.
She adds, “‘Queen of Make Believe’ is pure pop fun! It was one of the last songs I wrote for the album and a late addition to the track list. I wanted a radio-friendly, upbeat pop song and had a lot of fun writing and producing it from scratch.
The meaning behind the lyrics goes back to the idea of happiness being a mindset. ‘I’m gonna smile until it feels alright’ and even if things are not where I want them to be, I’m gonna pretend everything is ok, and eventually, it might just become the truth. Whether that works or not, it’s up to the listener!”
Elsewhere, the album feels like a collection of the most positive and realistic self-help messages around. From vowing to overcome self-defeating thoughts (‘Invisible Walls’) to learning not to judge yourself by the unrealistic standards of social media (‘Validation’) to the album’s affecting final lines (“You’d do it all the same, You’d do it all again, We do the best we can” from ‘The Comfort of Falling’), it’s a record that inspires determination and tenacity, even if the odds have been stacked against you.
The album was entirely written solely by Jewelia, who produced all of its tracks either independently or with guitarist Andy Denyer while much of the record was mixed by Niko Battistini (Charlie XCX, Caroline Polachek) and Mario Borgata (Mallrat, Mansionair).

This Sunday will see Jewelia celebrate the big win of releasing ‘Little Wins’ by playing a special album launch show at The Lexington, London. Remaining tickets are available HERE, and the show will feature support from Fire In Her Eyes and Evie Balfe. Jewelia will also host an after show hangout, which will be accompanied by an acoustic set from cloe.gf.
