Enthusiastic crowds welcomed Pepsi MAX presents TRNSMT back to Glasgow Green today, as they built up to a massive night for Scotland. An all-star squad of acts helped get the party started ahead of the big World Cup kick-off, with Nile Rodgers & Chic, surprise-set star Becky Hill, Dylan John Thomas, Wolf Alice and Richard Ashcroft amongst the standout performances of the opening day of 2026.

Day one of Scotland’s biggest music festival got off to a proud Scottish start as singer and piper Cammy Barnes kicked off the day.

Downpours weren’t enough to dampen anyone’s spirits as fans partied and danced to the classic grooves of Nile Rodgers & Chic, with the legendary singer bringing hits including ‘Everybody Dance’ and ‘I Want Your Love’.

Surprise-star Becky Hill, proved her vocal prowess as she unleashed a range of new songs to the delight of fans – who gathered at the King Tut’s stage.

Dylan John Thomas took to the Main Stage as the sun made an appearance brightening up the arena as he sang to his home crowd, and Wolf Alice sang a selection of their global hits and received a huge roar from the crowd when they dedicated their set to Scotland hero Scott McTominay.

Closing the first day with a Bittersweet Symphony was Richard Ashcroft, the legendary singer songwriter and The Verve frontman, delivered a rousing set – playing through his back catalogue with “Song for Lovers” and “Lucky Man”, with one lucky couple given the perfect engagement gift as their name appeared on the big screens during the headline performance.

At The Hangout fans were given laughs from The Stand live comedy, and throughout the afternoon Scotland supporters burst into ‘No Scotland, No Party’ and ‘Super John McGinn’ as excitement built.

There were even a few Tartan Army who donned their kilts for the big occasion, giving a new festival look to TRNSMT. There was a sea of Scotland tops, from retro, to the current salmon pink style amongst the crowd.

Excited fan, TJ from Kilmarnock, 22, said: “I’ve been here since the start, the kilt got a bit wet but thankfully it’s dried up now. It’s gotten a lot of attention – everyone’s loving a bit of tartan at TRNSMT.

“I’ve had a brilliant time – the rain never stopped us once we’ve just enjoyed the whole atmosphere.

“Music brings people together and the whole day has just been amazing. To have the football on tonight is just going to be such an incredible experience. I can’t wait, c’mon Scotland!”

Christine, 38, was buzzing with Becky Hill and was looking forward to watching the game. She said: “Becky Hill was so good, she’s always a stand out performer and it was great to hear some of her new stuff – it sounded brilliant.

“We’re looking forward to Richard Ashcroft and then the fanzone – we watched the first game in a bowling club back home and we were struggling to stay up.

“We’ll not have any issues tonight though – we’ll be right up for it. Everyone is.”

Couple Zoe and Bradley, from Motherwell, both 21 came to TRNSMT after spending the last week in Boston. The pair were draped in saltires at the King Tut’s stage with special No Scotland, No Party sunglasses.

Zoe said: “We were in Boston last week, it was a surreal experience watching the game in the fanzone.

“This is going to be just as good, we knew this was the place to be. Getting to see great music then having the football on is such a unique experience we were never going to miss.

“We can’t wait for the rest of the festival and then cheering on Scotland.”

Geoff Elllis, CEO of DF Concerts said: “It’s been an epic opening day..

“A little rain never stopped Scotland from enjoying a party, and what an atmosphere it has been.

“Fans have been in great spirits and enjoying an incredible lineup of music, including Richard Ashcroft, Wolf Alice and the return of Becky Hill who delivered another stellar TRNSMT performance.

Nile Rodgers & Chic had everyone dancing, even in the rain, before the sun finally broke through as Dylan John Thomas took to the stage. We’re hoping he’s worked his magic and chased the rain away until Monday.

“We can’t wait for the rest of the weekend ahead and hope everyone enjoys the football.”
