Kaiser Chiefs Kick Off Castle Concerts in Riotous Style
Kaiser Chiefs stormed the stage at Edinburgh Castle to launch this year’s Castle Concerts series, kicking off their 20 Years of Employment tour with an unforgettable bang. Against the dramatic backdrop of the historic fortress, the band delivered a night packed with energy, nostalgia, and pure rock ‘n’ roll fun.
The show opened with a cinematic, Jurassic Park-style visual intro on the big screens—an unexpected and theatrical flourish that immediately set the tone for an evening full of surprises. As the opening chords of “Everyday I Love You Less and Less” rang out, the crowd erupted, launching straight into an hour and a half of non-stop anthems and high-octane performance.
The atmosphere was electric from the very first beat. Fans—spanning generations—were on their feet, singing, dancing, and bouncing along with every track. Ricky Wilson, the ever-charismatic frontman, was in his element. Bounding across the stage with infectious enthusiasm, he had the audience hanging on his every word and waving their arms in the air like it was 2005 all over again.
Highlights from the set included the punchy chaos of “I Predict a Riot,” which had the crowd surging with energy, and the relentless rhythm of “Never Miss a Beat,” which turned the castle esplanade into one giant dancefloor. Of course, “Ruby” was a show-stopper, with thousands shouting the iconic chorus—“Ruby, Ruby, Ruby!”—in perfect unison, shaking the ancient stones of the venue.
The band mixed nostalgic hits with newer material, showing they’ve still got the fire and flair that first propelled them to fame two decades ago. With tight musicianship, crowd-pleasing banter, and a setlist stacked with bangers, this was more than just a concert—it was a celebration of a band that has truly stood the test of time.
As the night came to a close with a euphoric rendition of “Oh My God,” the crowd sang so loudly it almost drowned out the band. It was the perfect finale to a show that felt like a shared victory lap for both Kaiser Chiefs and their loyal fans.
Packed with passion, powerhouse performances, and moments of pure joy, this was a gig to remember. If the rest of their tour matches the energy of this opening night, it’s not one to miss. You’ll leave grinning, hoarse, and already looking for tickets to the next show.
