A Summer’s Night on the South Side: Sunshine, Music, and Indie Vibes
It was definitely a summer’s night to remember on the south side—full of sunshine, music, and electric energy in the air.
Kicking things off were Edinburgh’s very own indie rockers, Withered Hand and Katherine Williams. Their charismatic stage presence and heartfelt sound brought light and life to the crowd. Their pure indie rock style resonated with fans old and new, creating a genuine connection that set a warm and welcoming tone for the evening.
Next up was the ever-amazing King Creosote, hailing from Fife. Frontman Kenny Anderson and his talented bandmates took the stage with confidence, delivering a rich mix of indie and pop rock. Their set lifted the energy, preparing the crowd for the night’s crescendo. Blending heartfelt lyrics with vibrant instrumentation, they delivered an excellent performance that took us on a dynamic journey through sound.
Both acts gave brilliant, uplifting sets that had the crowd dancing, singing, and fully immersed in the spirit of the night. The energy never dipped—and neither did the sunshine.
Finally, Del Amitri took to the stage — and the crowd erupted in sheer excitement as the band launched straight into their 1989 hit “Stone Cold Sober.” The energy was electric, and the party atmosphere didn’t let up as they rolled into their next big number, “Kiss This Thing Goodbye.” Fans sang along with lead singer Justin Currie, creating a truly feel-good moment that set the perfect tone for the night.
It was nothing short of a spectacle, with the band treating fans to a set packed with some of their greatest hits. From the emotional “Always the Last to Know” to the infectious “Spit in the Rain,” the crowd was with them every step of the way. The ever-popular “Roll to Me” had everyone dancing, and the night reached a heartfelt crescendo with one of their biggest anthems, “Nothing Ever Happens.” The audience joined in for a powerful chorus, ending with a beautiful accordion instrumental from the brilliant Andy Alston.
Justin, Iain, Ash Soan, Kris, and Andy gave fans a night to remember with a great show, with great music showcasing their greatest hits, bringing the first show of the weekend on the Southside to a memorable and emotional close.
