SHARES THE NEW SINGLE ‘HOW DID WE GET TO MIDNIGHT’ – LISTEN HERE
UK AND EUROPEAN ‘SONGS I WROTE’ HEADLINE TOUR STARTS IN OCTOBER

2025 saw Jamie Grey make great strides forward, with Radio 2 airplay for ‘Like What I See’ and BBC Introducing support for ‘Chains’ while the live front saw him complete a sold-out UK headline tour, a show as guest to Rag’n’Bone Man, and play a candlelight performance at St. Pancras Old Church. Having recently announced details of his ‘Songs I Wrote’ UK and European tour, Jamie now reveals his first new music of 2026 with the single ‘How Did We Get To Midnight’. Listen HERE.
Jamie’s current creative era has seen a fresh focus on crafting music with the timelessness to complement the affecting impact of his soulful vocal talent. That’s something which stands tall in ‘How Did We Get To Midnight’. His voice – at times soft and vulnerable, at others bearing the full force of the emotions – is set to a simple yet elegant piano melody which puts its message to the fore. Lyrically, it addresses the realisation that comes in any content long-term relationship: suddenly years have passed, almost without you noticing.
Jamie says, “How did we get to midnight is a song about my obsession with time. I’m an overthinker, and as I’ve got older, I’ve started to understand the value of time a lot more. I used to think I was gonna be a kid forever, but I blinked and that time was over. Now life for me is about trying my hardest to be present, grateful and remembering that I need to cherish time with the people I love the most. This song is that reminder to myself.”
As with ‘Chains’, ‘Hold Me I’m In Heaven’ and ‘Like What I See’, ‘How Did We Get To Midnight’ is the product of the collaborative spark that he shares with co-writer Charlie Dempsey and producer Ben Lythe.
Raised in Redcar near Middlesbrough, Jamie’s rise has been unorthodox and certainly not overnight. He quit his job in finance to follow his dream of music and landed a first big opportunity in ‘The Voice’ in 2017 – but when that didn’t work out, he dedicated everything to proving the judges wrong, He returned in 2018 stronger and more confident, leading to him being backed by Olly Murs and Tom Jones, before reaching the top eight.
Bolstered by that experience, Jamie soon saw his solo bedroom studio tracks picking up 100,000 plays a day before his talents reached James Arthur, resulting in Jamie co-writing the hit ‘Falling Like The Stars’ as well as songs from the #1 album ‘Bitter Sweet Love’. Meeting Ben Lythe and Charlie Dempsey encouraged Jamie’s self-belief and they almost immediately started making music that can take him to new-found heights. And as we’ve heard, Jamie is now positioned to live up to that potential, with his style mixing influences such as Paolo Nutini and James Morrison, with the broad pop appeal of Ed Sheeran and Teddy Swims.
Jamie Grey will head out on his first full UK and European headline tour this autumn. He previewed the tour by commenting, “I’ll be coming to you all to play the ‘Songs I Wrote’ tour which will be just me and my acoustic guitar, up close and personal raw and direct. This is what I’ve always dreamt about. If you’ve connected with a song of mine since I started releasing songs in 2020 I’d really love to see you there!”
