Cosmic Crooner has released “The Balcony”, the latest sumptuous track to be taken from the enigmatic musician’s sophomore album ‘European Vacation’, set for release on May 2nd on LP, CD & digital formats – pre-order here

Inspired by the smooth rhythms of bossa nova and the suspense of classic cinema, “The Balcony” feels like the soundtrack to a noir detective story, evoking a cool, smoky jazz bar on a sultry summer night. The track was recorded live and the strings were dubbed later by Jesse Kotansky (Adam Green, Willie J Healey). “Of all the tracks on the album, this song took the longest to finish writing, but I’m really happy with the results,” comments Cosmic Crooner. “It was inspired by Brazilian music and by French and Italian film scores from the ‘60s and ‘70s.”

The follow-up to Cosmic Crooner’s acclaimed 2023 debut ‘The Perks Of Being A Hypocrite’, ‘European Vacation’ is a holiday for the senses, music that transports you to somewhere more fabulous. Inspired by artists including David Axelrod, Serge Gainsbourg, and Marvin Gaye, Cosmic Crooner creates a vivid, luxurious sonic landscape, his evocative lyrics delivered with a raconteur’s wit. “I wanted to make a timeless album,” says Cosmic Crooner of his creation. “I love Brazilian music, progressive soul from the ‘70s and jazz. I’ve tried to incorporate my inspirations into this world.”

As with his debut album, ‘European Vacation’ was produced by rising talent Pieter Vonk, with strings arranged by Trey Pollard (Foxygen, Faye Webster) and Jesse Kotansky (Adam Green, Willie J Healey.). Based in Amsterdam, Cosmic Crooner has toured with Temples, Timber Timbre, Tempesst and most recently Mattiel, building a cult following across Europe.
