Football fans watching Scotland’s huge clash with Morocco on the nation’s biggest screens will experience the ultimate pre-match build-up as Cammy Barnes steps up to lead a rousing rendition of the Tartan Army’s national anthem, Flower of Scotland, on the bagpipes just before kick-off – calling for the crowd “to turn Glasgow Green into a Sea of Saltires”.

The talented piper and vocalist is going to perform the national anthem to ramp up the atmosphere just minutes before Scotland’s second World Cup fixture – which is set to be aired on the Main Stage after TRNSMT.

Organisers are creating the country’s largest fanzone on June 19, broadcasting the match live from Boston.

Now with less than 30 days to go, the company behind the festival have revealed pre-match plans, with Barnes, the man opening Friday’s Main Stage set to return to the same spot to rally the troops ahead of the huge match.

The proud Scotsman has called on football fans at Glasgow Green to proudly support the national side, by bringing their Scotland flags and wearing their favourite Scotland top.

The Fife singer issued the rallying cry on social media, as he vowed to give fans goosebumps during his solo-piper appearance.

Cammy Barnes said: “It is already an honour to play TRNSMT but to now return to the stage after the festival and perform the national anthem ahead of the game, fills me with such pride.

“Glasgow Green is going to be special that night, and I want fans to really show their love for Scotland and our team over in the US.

“I want to see as many Scotland flags as possible, turning the crowd into a sea of saltires, just imagine the scenes – it is going to be epic.”

Geoff Ellis, CEO of DF Concerts said: “Having Cammy on the stage ahead of the game is going to be such an incredible moment and the perfect pre-match rallying cry for all our Scotland supporters in the crowd.

“Glasgow Green is going to have a very unique feel this year and we want fans to embrace it, wear their Scotland tops, and bring a saltire to show their support and add colour to the game.

“It’s going to be a hugely special occasion and a unique moment.”
