Yes Sir…TRNSMT can boogie – as Scotland announced as FOURTH headliner with Main Stage World Cup takeover confirmed
Pepsi MAX presents TRNSMT is delighted to announce Scotland as an unprecedented FOURTH headliner for this year’s festival, confirming they will be showing the national team’s huge World Cup group stage game against Morocco on the first night of the festival.
Just like legends Scott McTominay, Lawrence Shankland, Kieran Tierney and Kenny McLean did against Denmark, the festival has scored a screamer, to bring the Hampden roar to Glasgow Green, with TRNSMT fans set to round off a day of sensational live music by cheering on their heroes on the biggest screens in Scotland.
Steve Clarke’s very own chart-toppers will take to football’s greatest stage for the first time in almost 30 years as they take on three crunch matches in the US, they’ll face Haiti on 14th June before taking on Morocco on 19th June – the same day TRNSMT kicks off.
However with the game set to kick off at 11pm, the TRNSMT team have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure fans don’t miss out, and will allow ticket holders to stay on site to witness the country’s bravehearts live from Boston.
Richard Ashcroft’s headline set will finish in plenty time before kick off, meaning fans will have time to grab some food and a refreshment, and soak in the pre match atmosphere, allowing Scotland to take to the Main Stage in a festival first, and just in time for the national anthem to be proudly belted out.
For those who can’t make it to America, the festival will be full of believers ready to cheer Scotland on to a famous victory, with a stellar lineup already announced including Wolf Alice, The Beta Band and Nile Rodgers & Chic, who will get the party started before Scotland take centre stage.
TRNSMT will be ready for a tartan takeover, with the largest screens in the country, plenty of bars and an excellent range of food stalls, for a great summer’s night of music and football in the heart of the city.
Geoff Ellis, CEO of DF Concerts said: “This is going to be a historic moment for the festival and one we are incredibly excited about, it’s sure to be a night that will live long in the memory.
“I couldn’t think of a better addition to the Main Stage lineup than the Scotland national team, and showing the game will create a unique atmosphere, bringing the Hampden roar to Glasgow Green.
“Giving our fans the chance to see their favourite bands and then watch the game with thousands of Scotland fans in a World Cup is the stuff dreams are made of, and it shows exactly how TRNSMT is much more than a music festival.
“We’ll be providing the most exciting place to watch the game in the country with our screens even higher than Scott McTominay’s bicycle kick.
“I want to thank Glasgow City Council and partners for their continued collaboration. We can’t wait to show the world that yes sir, TRNSMT can boogie.”
