TRNSMT ENJOYS SUNDAY SCORCHER AS LEWIS CAPALDI MAKES SENSATIONAL RETURN ALONGSIDE CMAT, TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB AND AMY MACDONALD
- Day three saw temperature soar above 20 at Glasgow Green on the longest day of the year
- Scottish chart-topper Lewis Capaldi brought the festival to a close, delivering a stunning homecoming performance as the sun set on TRNSMT 2026
- Amy Macdonald excited the crowd with a rousing set, whilst CMAT gave an energetic performance to her sea of fans
Pepsi MAX presents TRNSMT 2026 enjoyed a Sunday scorcher as the festival drew to a close with Lewis Capaldi, Amy MacDonald, CMAT, Two Cinema Club and Perrie amongst the highlights of the final day.
Scottish singer Kerr Mercer opened the main stage, following his recent breakthrough success, starting the party right as the summer sunshine shone. Crowds were buoyant as they spread out across the site, catching rays and tuning into some cracking live music.
Over at the King Tut’s stage, opening band Vida had a lovely Father’s Day message, as they announced their lead singer has welcomed a new baby – and celebrated their own dad who was also in the crowd.
Next up, it was time for pop-icon Perrie Edwards of Little Mix fame, who performed both fresh hits and a classic Little Mix medley that drew screams from the crowd.
As the sun beamed down, Two Door Cinema Club delivered indie-pop hits including classics such as ‘I Can Talk’ and dedicating ‘Something Good Can Work’ to Cardonald in Glasgow, where the band used to live.
They joked with fans, “Yeah we used to live in Cardonald and I swear we didn’t have a single day with this sunshine.”
The band added: “It’s changed a lot since we lived here, you’ve got sunshine and you got good at football.”
As the evening drew in, Irish pop-punk star CMAT delivered a stand-out performance in front of buzzing fans, who were left in awe at her stage presence and powerful vocals. She sparked chants of ‘No Scotland, No Party’ before breaking into an amazing cover of Caledonia. She also had fun with fans, jumping into the crowd but also calling out Glasgow super-fan Carla Cochrane for her amazing sign.
Scotland’s own Amy Macdonald brought her Mr Rock ’N’ Roll swagger to the Main Stage, and as the sun started to fade she lit up the arena with a set full of hits.
Then it was the moment fans were waiting for as Lewis Capaldi made his huge TRNSMT return, to an epic roar with everyone packed in to see ‘the Scottish Beyonce’. The Someone You Love hitmaker arrived on stage telling fans he had a huge amount of songs to play, with Wish You The Best and Before You Go amongst his featured hits.
He also praised the festival for supporting homegrown talent, telling fans: “TRNSMT shines a light on new upcoming artists and I think that’s an incredible thing.”
Lewis had his own VIP cheerleader watching from the wings as Scottish music legend, Susan Boyle proudly suported her fellow West Lothian buddy from the side of the stage. And he gave her a massive shoutout sparking a huge cheer.
The night ended with fireworks as the sun set on an epic weekend of live music and Scottish pride – making it a landmark year.
Geoff Ellis, Festival Director, said: “What an incredible weekend it has been, and to finish it with a scorching Sunday has topped it all off.
“It was great to have Lewis back, we know how much he’s loved at this festival and he delivered another sensational performance, alongside a stellar lineup across the full day.
“This TRNSMT will live long in the memory for a number of reasons but the Scottish spirit on show was epic as always.”

CMAT shout out
CMAT gave Carla Cochrane (26) from Glasgow a shout out when she spotted her in the front-row of the crowd. CMAT, who calls herself “the people’s mess” and also “Dumboyne Diana” appreciated Carla’s hand-made poster featuring her and Princess Diana.
“I’ve followed her from the very beginning of her career and I’ve seen her loads. She’s an icon, there’s no-one like her”.
Family Affair
Tony O’Neill, 32, and Melissa McSherry, 31, from Uddingston and Renfrew, returned to the festival after a stunning Saturday where Melissa supported her cousin, Rianne Downey, who opened the Main Stage.
Melissa said: “It’s our first time coming to TRNSMT, or any festival. We’ve been together for seven years.
“Rianne Downey is my cousin, we were there yesterday cheering her on. She was brilliant. We’re all so proud of her opening the festival.
‘It’s great to see how she’s come from playing covers in her bedroom to the TRNSMT Main Stage.”
“Kasabian were brilliant last night. It was bouncing there and catching The Fratellis playing all their hits was amazing too.”
Karaoke star
Meanwhile, karaoke star, Tony who donned a traffic cone hat, proving popular at this year’s festival said he can’t wait to see Capaldi, with his songs a top choice at karaoke nights in Glasgow.
He said: “I can’t wait for Lewis Capaldi. I’m a singer so I do most of his songs at karaoke all around Glasgow.
“You’ll always find me on stage belting out Someone You Loved, I’ll try my best but I don’t think I’ll be outsinging Lewis tonight.
Brought up with Little Mix
Cousins Maya Bill, 16, and Melissa McSherry, 16, have bonded through their childhood through their love of Little Mix. The pair from Lanarkshire, once stole the show at a family wedding performing ‘Black Magic’ when they were young kids, now today they are at their first TRNSMT to watch star, Perrie.
Melissa said: “We’re huge Little Mix fans, there’s a video of us singing Little Mix at my aunt’s wedding when we were seven.
“We performed Black Magic together, in front of everyone, it’s so funny that we’re here together to see Perrie, at our first ever TRNSMT.
“We can’t wait for Lewis Capaldi as well – we’re huge fans, we’re going to enjoy the sunshine and music and get ready for him later.”
Over at the King Tut’s stage, Andrew Neeson was enjoying his first ever TRNSMT and first ever open air music festival, celebrating his 65th birthday after his sister gave him a ticket.
He was spotted over at Vida enjoying the early buzz in the air.
Andrew said: “This is my first ever open air music concert and first time at TRNMST, it’s a nice early birthday present from my sister. The sun is shining and I’m having a great time.”
‘Lewis Capaldi helps me sleep at night, I love him so much’, 64-year-old super-fan
Super-fan Shirley Burns, 64, from Clydebank was buzzing to get to TRNSMT to see Lewis Capaldi who she says brings joy everyday and that his soothing voice helps her sleep.
She said: “I’ve never seen Lewis before but I have loved him for years and years. This is my third time at TRNSMT but I’ve never been able to see him.
“I’ve never managed to get tickets, his concerts are always sold out, so I am absolutely buzzing about this.
“If I need to calm down or cheer myself up, I just put my earphones on and listen to his voice. He’s just incredible.
“I remember hearing him on the radio one day years ago, and thought his voice was just so soothing, and the song was just so beautiful.
“Right away I started listening to him, every single one of his songs!”
Shirley, a former nursery worker who is with her daughter Shazza Burns, 38, and ex-colleague Chelsea, 31, said she’d give Lewis a big cuddle if she was lucky enough to meet him.
She said: “Some of his songs are just so heartbreaking, and they’ve all got a story to tell. I’d really love to cuddle him and say ‘it’s going to be alright son’.
Shirley joked, “I’m maybe a wee bit old for him, but I just want to be a mother figure and take care of him.”
Shirley’s daughter said despite all the music happening around her, her mum is still walking from stage to stage – blasting Lewis Capaldi out of her phone.
Shazza said: “She’s been walking about playing out his tunes and singing them all day, I don’t know how we’re going to contain her excitement.”
