On a brisk evening in the city, fans congregated outside the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow, illuminated by the iconic neon sign. The air was filled with excitement as everyone eagerly anticipated the opening night of the UK leg of the Vicious Creature tour.

It was finally time for Lauren Mayberry to perform her inaugural solo show at the venue, which buzzed with excitement for the night ahead. As the lights dimmed, a palpable sense of anticipation filled the air. When her band emerged on stage, the crowd erupted in cheers, but it was when Lauren stepped into the spotlight—dressed in a red tartan mini skirt and a grey tartan top—that the fans truly went wild.
The set kicked off with the fantastic “Crocodile Tears,” which had her fans singing along enthusiastically as she stood at the center of the stage, holding a telephone and performing as if she were conversing over the line. Her voice was incredible, and the song filled the Barrowland with a palpable sense of passion and energy. To wrap up the performance, she delivered the beautiful “A Work of Fiction” and the exceptional “Sorry, Etc.” As she exited the stage, the Glasgow crowd gave her an enthusiastic response, and it was clear that with the stage lights dimmed and the venue lights still off, an encore was imminent.
In just a few minutes, Lauren returned, and the venue was filled with a vibrant energy. She kicked off the encore with the fantastic “Oh, Mother,” prompting the audience to sing along enthusiastically. As she introduced the final song of the night, her emotions were palpable; you could see the joy on her face as she bid farewell, reflecting on what had been a truly wonderful evening for both her and the band. The fans savoured every moment of the performance, and the show could only conclude with her hit single from last year, “Sunday Best.” The audience joined in, singing every word with Lauren as she soaked in the atmosphere one last time. As the song came to an end, both Lauren and the band said their goodbyes.
