On a chilly night in Glasgow, crowds congregated beneath the iconic Barrowland neon sign, which glowed brilliantly on the building’s facade. Enthusiastic fans arrived early to enjoy an impressive lineup featuring Corella, Peace, and the headlining band Circa Waves, all part of their Death and Love tour.
As fans flooded into the venue, it was time for Manchester’s own Joel Smith, Ben Henderson, Jack Taylor, and James Fawcett—collectively known as Corella—to take the stage. The band delivered a brief yet impactful set that captured the attention of the Barrowland audience. They seemed to understand that this was their moment to shine, and they certainly made the most of it, even debuting a new song titled “Rewind.” With its heavy guitar riffs and a style that diverged slightly from their previous tracks, the song resonated with the Glasgow crowd, who couldn’t help but dance along. Corella is definitely a band to watch, as they left a significant impression on the Glasgow audience with their electrifying performance.
Next, the band Peace from Worcester took the stage. Brothers Harry and Sam Koisser were joined by a guest bassist for the night, as Sam was unavailable. The trio delivered a powerful performance right from the start, blending indie music with dance-infused synth elements. This evening was slightly different, with only Harry performing live alongside the touring drummer. However, this change didn’t impact the set, as Harry expertly led the show and treated Glasgow to an electrifying performance. Despite the lineup adjustments, the audience was completely engaged, dancing and singing along to the band’s fantastic set.
It was time for the headline act from Liverpool, Circa Waves, featuring Kieran Shudall, Joe Falconer, Sam Rourke, and Colin Jones. Currently on their Death and Love tour, they have been delivering high-energy performances on the road, and tonight they find themselves in Glasgow. As the lights dimmed, the atmosphere in the venue became electric.
Kieran expressed his excitement to the audience about returning to a city they all cherish. The band delivered an incredible performance, showcasing several new tracks such as “Like You Did Before,” “Let’s Leave Together,” and the fantastic “We Made It.” In addition to these new songs, they energized Glasgow with a dynamic set of beloved fan favourites, filling the venue with enthusiastic voices and lively dancing. The stage setup allowed for excellent views of all the band members, and the front-row fans couldn’t contain their excitement, cheering loudly for them.
This evening was packed with memorable moments, including a birthday cake whose recipient I couldn’t quite identify. It was a unique experience that you don’t encounter at every concert. The band was in exceptional form, and Kieran’s vocals were flawless. He genuinely seemed to be relishing the moment, engaging the audience and inviting them to sing and dance along.
Some of the standout moments included “Stuck in My Teeth,” “Jacqueline,” and the fantastic “Movies.” The performance felt brief despite featuring an impressive setlist of over 18 songs, as the band truly drew the audience into their world. They delivered a two-song encore that the Glasgow crowd absolutely adored, starting with the brilliant “Be Your Drug” and concluding with “T-Shirt Weather,” which perfectly captured the atmosphere of the venue. It was a memorable night, and it was clear that the band shared the same passion for music as their fans did.
If you have the opportunity to see this tour, don’t miss it—you’re in for an incredible night of music. Be sure to keep an eye out for tonight’s supporting acts, Corella and Peace, who were both outstanding. Circa Waves delivered an unforgettable experience for their Glasgow fans.
