INTERVIEW : Bottle Rockets – Perseverance and Passion: Bottle Rocket’s Musical Milestone

The interview is with the Scottish band The Bottle Rockets, who are performing at the Trnsmt music festival. Karen Edmond from the Scottish Music Network is conducting the interview.

Kenzi Murray expresses excitement about their first performance at the festival, saying it was fun to be backstage and experience the atmosphere. Karen notes that the weather was very hot the previous day, but the interview location is nice and cool.

When asked to describe their music to someone who hasn’t heard it before, the band members say it is very catchy and a mix of different influences. They aim to create music that is as catchy as possible. Karen agrees, saying their music has a foot-tapping quality that doesn’t require much time to get into.

Kenzi says they were pleasantly surprised by the size and enthusiasm of the crowd, as being a relatively small band, they weren’t sure what to expect. But the crowd seemed very receptive and engaged with their performance.

The band has had some highlights in their career so far, including winning the BBC Act of the Year award and playing at the iconic Battlegrounds festival. They see this Trnsmt performance as another big milestone.

When asked if there is a particular song that best represents their sound, the band members say their music is quite diverse, but they highlight tracks like “100’s” and “Batswain” as good introductions.

Karen asks the band if they have any advice for other artists who are trying to find their way. They emphasize the importance of perseverance and self-belief – not giving up, even when faced with challenges, and continuing to have faith in themselves and their music.

The band members say they plan to stick around and watch some of the other artists performing at the festival today, despite the less-than-ideal weather. Karen wraps up the interview, saying she’s sure they’ll be seeing the band again at future events.

Overall, the summary covers the band’s excitement about their Transmit performance, their musical style and influences, the crowd’s reaction, their career highlights, advice for other artists, and their plans to enjoy the rest of the festival.
