BLACK WATER COUNTY follow the recent announcement that their third album, THE ONLY LIFE WORTH LIVING, will be released on 3 November with the release of HERE WE ARE AGAIN, the final single from the album.
Here We Are Again follows the three previously released singles from the album – the frantic and euphoric title track The Only Life Worth Living; the thrillingly banjo-led Cruel State Of Mind; and the hauntingly beautiful ballad Second Guessing which features dual vocals from Shan Byrom of Black Water County and Hannah Greenwood from Creeper.
The new single perfectly illustrates the band’s knack of melding often heartbreaking lyrics with joyous guitars, frenetic drums and memorable rhythms, interwoven with just the right amount of acoustics and folk-led instrumentation to build towards euphoric and energetic crescendos.
“Here We Are Again follows the story of a break up where the broken heartstrings are buried and the ties are being cut,” say the band about the new single, “a cynical goodbye to the person who knew you the most but is now a stranger in your life. How you can both convey a pessimistic sense of resignation and acceptance yet still wish you could understand each other’s perspective better.
“As the vocal conversation strives to capture the complex emotions and conflicts that can arise in relationships, and the difficulty of breaking free from patterns of behaviour, the melodies intertwine and build into an emotional intensification that combines fluttering whistle and delicate mandolin.
“It’s with a heavy heart that we hope everyone can recognise something in this story. Please forgive us and know that it’s all just part of the only life worth living.”
Recorded with their close friend and long-term producer Lewis Johns at The Ranch in Southampton, the new album follows their 2017 debut Taking Chances and the follow-up Comedies and Tragedies in 2020. The Only Life Worth Living will be available on eco-friendly vinyl, with every copy being unique, limited edition orange vinyl, cassette, CD and digital, alongside a new range of merchandise.

“The album spans the course of reaching rock bottom with a bank of broken hearts, to throwing caution to the wind and then cycling all the way back round again,” say the band. “Our twist of modern rock with folk instrumentation entangles the collection of tracks into a whiplash of energy, while remaining loyal to the Black Water County sound.”
Following the album release, the band will play a full headline UK tour including a hometown show at Bournemouth Old Fire Station on 16 December. That gig will be the band’s only Bournemouth date this year and will feature special guests, live strings and brass, and will be the only show where they will be playing their new album in its entirety. Hailing from the South West and now celebrating a decade making music together, Black Water County have deviated over time from the well-trodden path of alcohol-fueled teenage insolence. Gone is that insolence, replaced by an aspiration to achieve affinity through stories of the downtrodden and the heartbroken. With a necessary touch of both spirit and spirits, naturally. The band have shared stages with legendary acts such as Less Than Jake, Flogging Molly, The Bronx and The Skints, and their prestigious UK festival appearances have included WOMAD, Boomtown Fair, Beautiful Days, Belladrum, Black Deer, Camp Bestival, Larmer Tree and Teddy Rocks, alongside hundreds of appearances in Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, The Netherlands and France.
