As the TRNSMT festival in Glasgow reaches its final day, the temperature is set to dip slightly compared to the sizzling highs of the previous two days. As eager crowds stream into the festival site, excitement buzzes in the air for what promises to be a spectacular conclusion.
Kicking off the main stage is Nieve Ella, a talented English singer-songwriter who is no stranger to the TRNSMT vibe. With a growing audience before her, Nieve and her band took to the stage, captivating the crowd from the very first note. Delivering a delightful blend of pop and indie, she charmed festival-goers as the sun cast a warm glow over the main stage, making for a perfect start to day three of the festivities.
Following Nieve is the phenomenal Tom Walker, who received an electric reception as he stepped onto the stage. He treated the TRNSMT audience to a short yet powerful set, with fans singing along to favourites like “Holy Ghost” and “Leave a Light On.” His passion for music is palpable, especially when he dedicates “Just You and I” — a heartfelt song inspired by his relationship with his wife. The crowd erupted during the standout track “Head Underwater,” and Tom’s energetic performance left attendees wanting more. It’s a set that’s undoubtedly worth checking out at the festival or a venue nearby.
Over at the King Tuts stage, the dynamic Kyle Falconer, lead singer of Dundee’s The View, took the spotlight with his own band. Opening with “Stress Ball,” he showcased a fresh sound while maintaining the energy and powerful lyrics his fans adore. The intimacy of the smaller stage allowed for a closer connection, and highlights of his performance included “Wasted Little DJ’s,” “Face For The Radio,” and “Grace.” With family members proudly watching from the front, Kyle closed his set with The View classic “Typical Time,” leaving the audience singing along joyously. In a heart-warming gesture, he leapt into the crowd at the end of his performance, handing out free T-shirts — a perfect touch following an electrifying set.
Meanwhile, back at the main stage, Nathan Evans and the Saint Phnx band were gearing up to ignite the TRNSMT party. Nathan received a warm welcome as he joined his band on stage, launching into the lively “Flowers in The Water,” prompting the audience to sing along heartily. His latest single, “Arabella,” inspired a passionate sing-back from the crowd. After introducing the band, Nathan shared his love for the track “Deadman,” a Saint Phnx gem, before treating fans to “Highland Girl,” “Heather on the Hill,” and the beloved “Happy Place,” which had everyone singing together. Nathan also announced an exclusive performance at the OVO Hydro later this year, sending the crowd into a frenzy. It was an unforgettable performance, and anyone who has yet to see Nathan and the Saint Phnx band live is in for a treat.
Over at the King Tuts stage, the talented Rianne, hailing from Bellshill, took the stage to a rousing reception. Opening her set with “Sunblind,” she showcased her impressive vocal range. Engaging with the audience, she shared a traditional Scottish tune, “Wild Mountain Thyme,” and included memorable covers from her recent tour with The Beautiful South, including “Don’t Marry Her” and “Rotterdam.” Rianne also delivered a stunning rendition of Frankie Miller’s “Caledonia.” Though her set was brief, it resonated deeply with fans, culminating in performances of her own songs like “Home” and “The Good in Goodbye.” Rianne’s exceptional voice shone brightly throughout, ensuring that first-time listeners left feeling enchanted by her music.
Next up on the King Tuts stage was the fabulous Nina Nesbitt, ready to perform a captivating set. As she stepped onto the stage, the crowd erupted in cheers, and Nina did not disappoint. Her set was filled with mesmerizing moments, including the standout tracks “Mansion” and the crowd favourite “Parachute.” Nina has a unique ability to draw her audience in, smiling and engaging with them throughout her performance. One particularly powerful song, “The Mountain & The Man,” resonated deeply, leaving a lasting impression. Nina is an artist you simply must see live; her ability to immerse listeners in her musical world is truly remarkable.
On the main stage, Myles Smith made an entrance to rapturous applause, donning a kilt and Scotland football jersey. His infectious smile lit up the stage as he engaged the audience, encouraging them to join in, and they responded enthusiastically. Highlights of his set included “Behind,” “Whisper,” “Gold,” and “My Home,” each inviting the crowd to embark on a musical journey. The biggest sing-alongs were inspired by his UK hits, “Nice To Meet You” and “Stargazing,” leaving an indelible mark on the audience. Myles’s captivating stage presence and engaging performance made for a memorable set, and it’s clear he’s an artist to watch as he continues to tour.
As the festival approached its grand finale, Little Mix star Jade took to the main stage, a highly anticipated performance that had fans buzzing with excitement. After her stunning appearances at the Brits earlier this year, expectations were high. Opening with “It Girl,” Jade dazzled the audience alongside her talented dancers. Though there was a brief hiccup during “Midnight Cowboy” due to a costume malfunction, she quickly recovered and continued to shine. Jade delivered a stellar performance of her solo material, with highlights including “Plastic Box,” “FUFN,” and the catchy “Fantasy.” Fans were treated to a medley of beloved Little Mix songs, with “Angel Of My Dreams” prompting the loudest singalong of the day. Jade’s energy and charisma made this performance one for the books, and as she exited the stage amidst thunderous applause, it was clear she left her mark on the crowd.
Back on the King Tuts stage, Scotland’s rising star Brooke Combe brought her soulful and bluesy vibe to the festival. Opening with the enchanting “This Town,” Brooke showcased her remarkable vocals. A crowd favourite, she had the King Tuts area buzzing with energy and even tied a St. Andrews flag to her mic stand for added flair. Notable moments from her set included “Shaken By The Wind,” “Lanewood Pines,” “Butterfly,” and “Are You With Me?” Her stage presence, complete with sunglasses and a cap, captivated the audience as the sun began to set over Glasgow. Closing with the heartfelt “The Last Time” and the title track from her album “Dancing at the Edge of the World,” Brooke left the crowd singing along and thoroughly entertained. Her powerful vocals resonated beautifully across the venue, earning her an enthusiastic round of applause as she wrapped up an outstanding performance.
To conclude the King Tuts stage for the festival, the iconic Shed Seven, featuring Rick Witter, Paul Banks, Tom Gladwin, Tim Wills, and Rob Maxfield, took the spotlight. The area in front of the stage was packed with enthusiastic fans sporting Shed Seven T-shirts. With an electrifying atmosphere, the band opened with “Let’s Go,” instantly getting the crowd moving and singing along. Rick expressed his joy at being back in Glasgow as they launched into “Speakeasy.” The set was filled with highlights, including “Going For Gold,” “On Stand By,” and the beautiful “Let’s Go Dancing.” A standout moment was their cover of The Smiths’ “There Is A Light That Never Goes Out,” which was met with widespread acclaim. Joined by Rowetta for “In Ecstasy” and the vibrant “Disco Down,” the band closed their set with “Chasing Rainbows,” leading to an unforgettable sing-along moment. It was a fitting and exhilarating end to the King Tuts stage for 2025, leaving fans eager for more.
Finally, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived as Snow Patrol, featuring Gary Lightbody, Nathan Connolly, Johnny McDaid, Ben Epstein, and Ash Soan, took to the main stage. The audience erupted in cheers as the band opened their set with “Take Back The City,” followed by the infectious “Chocolate.” Gary engaged the crowd, stating how happy he was to be back, as they seamlessly transitioned into “Called Out In The Dark.” Highlights of their performance included “Crack the Shutters,” “Open Your Eyes,” and “Make This Go On Forever.” As the set drew to a close, fans were treated to “Chasing Cars,” followed by the poignant “You’re All I Have” before the band exited for their encore. They returned to perform “What If This Is All The Love You Ever Get?” which had the audience singing along heartily. The set concluded with the uplifting “Just Say Yes,” leaving a lasting impression as the band took their final bow and brought the lights down on the last day of the TRNSMT festival 2025.
As the festival comes to a close, we eagerly anticipate doing it all over again next year. It has truly been an unforgettable weekend filled with tropical sunshine and incredible live music. We’ll cherish the memories made and look forward to reuniting next year!
