“Terrific” – The Observer
“Tough and playful” – Stereogum
“The confident sound of a band exploring and developing” – The Quietus
“Really fantastic. Love PINS” – Lauren Laverne, 6Music
Manchester stalwarts PINS are returning with their eagerly anticipated third album next year, and alongside a celebratory tour of intimate showcases across the UK, they’re pleased to share their new remix from indie darlings The Orielles.
‘Ponytail’ is the brand new cut that provides not only a twisted taster of what’s to come, but the “Gong Bath” mix dips it in heady cocktail of glam sleaze and attitude enough to match the band themselves. PINS tell us that “Ponytail is a firm favourite from our new record and we wanted to hear it reimagined. We had been toying with the idea of working with The Orielles for some time, they have a really great sound and we just had to find the right song we could all get our heads into, we’re thrilled with how it turned out, I want to hear it rumbling from basement clubs all over Manchester.”
In return The Orielles say that they “were honoured to have been asked to remix such a great single and immediately had a vision for how we wanted it to sound. We focused on a few of the lead vocal hooks, as well as creating a drone on a Jen Synthesiser as the basis for the remix. We had fun adding our own flair to the remix with percussion and by messing around with our favourite gadget in Eve Studios, the Publison Stereo multi-effects Processor! This one’s for all you late nighters out there!”
Following a strong succession of acclaimed releases (2013’s ‘Girls Like Us’, 2015’s ‘Wild Nights’ and 2017’s ‘Bad Thing’ EP), PINS have secured their rightful place upon the throne of contemporary punk, queens of a scene that has forged a multitude of fans and imitators alike. The band also cultivated a collaborative relationship with the granddaddy himself Iggy Pop, a vocal fan who performed on their single ‘Aggraphobe’ and in turn invited singer Faith Vern to duet on his recent track ‘James Bond’.
They’ve toured extensively supporting the likes of Sleater-Kinney, Drenge, The Breeders, Moonlandingz, The Subways, Best Coast, Honeyblood, Maximo Park and more, as well as performing their own headline gigs and shows at festivals including SXSW and Secret Garden Party.
Gearing up for what’s set to be one of their busiest years as a band to date, PINS are poised – armed with a deadly arsenal of exceptional new material, sizzling instant hits and ferocious disco beats.
