GEORGE PORTER – TAKING ON THE WORLD
Release date 10th May
World Mental Health Awareness
Week 10th – 16th May 2021
“Every day we Take On The World & for some of us, getting out of bed is like landing on the moon.”
Hello, I’m George Porter and my latest release “Taking on the World” is something I feel relates to a condition I’ve had for many years. It is a mental health condition called S.A.D (Seasonal Affective Disorder). Music is a lifeline, not just for me but for millions of people.
Releasing this song and promotional video is my contribution to help, especially men. It’s only in recent years that I’ve been open about my condition. As the father of a young son with his whole life in front of him, I don’t want him to think his mental health is a secret.
This song was written by Glasgow Rockers GUN & released originally in 1989, their inaugural album’s title track. I think it’s one of the finest debut albums from a Scottish Artist. Both Original members Dante & Joolz Gizzi were kind enough to make a cameo in this promo video.
