Scottish indie heroes Idlewild are set to play a no doubt spectacular show at this year's Loopallu festival.
Held in the tiny town of Ullapool, Loopallu is one of Scotland's most unusual festivals. Despite the attraction of some big name competitions the event has clung on, to become acclaimed in its own right.
Taking over the entire town, Loopallu is renowned for its warm and friendly environment. Just don't bank on the weather being as predictable!
Returning for its sixth outing, the festival has unveiled the first names on its bill. Scottish indie heroes Idlewild are set to perform at the event, in what could become one of their last ever festival performances.
The band announced earlier this year that they are set to go on hiatus. Completing a British tour, Idlewild only have their summer engagements to go before it becomes time to put the guitar back into the cupboard.
Joining the band for their final celebration, acoustic duo Turin Brakes are set to perform. The band recently returned with their new album 'Outbursts' their first blast of new material in some time.
Also confirmed are folk upstarts The Bad Shepherds - featuring award winning comedian Adrian Edmondson. A folk group with a difference, they have already won acclaim far beyond the traditional scene.
Finally, electro pop newcomers Silver Columns are planning to drop by. Also known as The Pictish Trail and Adem, the pair turned their back on acoustic songsmithery earlier this year for a fun filled debut album.
'Yes, And Dance' was released through Moshi Moshi and proved that there is a lot more to the songwriters than wooly hats and capos.
Loopallu takes place between September 17th - 18th.

Radiohead drummer Philip Selway is set to take centre stage with his new solo album 'Familial'.
Sat behind his drums, Radiohead's Philip Selway has been there for the band's numerous stylistic changes. Swapping his sticks for programming tools, the drummer has moved from acoustic to electronic music with great ease.
Yet he has never taken centre stage. On his debut solo album however all that could change with Philip Selway revealing himself to be a mature and astute songwriter.
'Familial' owes it origins to an unusual project on the other side of the world. Crowded House star Neil Finn hosted the '7 Worlds Collide' project, a collaboration between some extremely varied musicians.
As a result, Philip Selway was forced to write his own material. Finding himself enjoying taking lead vocals, the Radiohead star recruited a band to work on new material.
At home in the Courtyard Studios, resident engineer and producer Ian Davenport helped to produce the collaborative sessions. Selway has invited some friends on board, with the likes of Lisa Germano, former Soul Coughing bassist Sebastian Steinberg and members of Wilco taking part.
Despite the rock pedigree on show, 'Familial' is a deeply challenging yet very coherent record. The album contains little defined drums, with the collective aiming more for percussive loops/textures.
An intimate and revealing document, 'Familial' builds on the tracks recorded for 'Seven Worlds Collide' but has a life of its own. Showcasing a vital member of Radiohead, it's safe to say that fans have never seen Philip Selway in so intimate an environment.
Philip Selway is set to release 'Familial' on August 30th.

PRESS RELEASE
Date: 14th May
Indie rock heroes The Charlatans have been announced as a main stage headliner for this summer’s Wickerman Festival.
Closely linked with the Manchester renaissance of the 80’s and 90’s and also with the later Britpop movement the iconic performers are scheduled to play at East Kirkcarswell Farm on Friday 23rd July.
The Charlatans are scheduled to re-release their first album “Some Friendly” on May 17th. The re-mastered edition will feature their huge indie anthem “The Only One I Know”.
When asked about his forthcoming Wickerman appearance band front man Tim Burgess said "I'm really excited about playing the Wickerman Festival. Playing in Scotland means everything to me because the Scots are so passionate about music! It makes for a great party atmosphere."
Other Wickerman announcements include big voice singer Tony Christie of Amarillo fame. His original 1971 song “Is This The Way To Amarillo” was re-released in 2005 to raise money for Comic Relief. The video featured comedian Peter Kay and remained at number one in the charts for almost seven weeks.

Dan Reed Tour Journal 2 - May 26 - Cambridge and beyond!
Here we are in Cambridge for the show this evening, after performing in Stoke, and then Liverpool this week. I must say that the band is 'alive' on stage, even more so than last tour, and it feels like we are approaching a new zenith with regards to 'letting go' of any pre-conceived ideas of how to approach the new and old material. There are many gentle moments in the set where we break down to near silence, and then moments later it feels as if the stage is going explode from the voracity of the band. I remember questioning whether playing with a full band was going to be as dynamic as doing live shows solo acoustic, for I had gotten use to bringing up and bringing down the volume as much or as less as the moment demanded. This is now a worry not warranted for playing with this collective has proven to be even more in tune with what I am thinking than I am, often taking the performance deeper, darker, more hope filled and powerful than I had previously imagined... and of course I am not speaking only of the band, but of the audience's attention and energy during and in between the songs. How we present the music live is, for the most part, a reflection of the audience's desire to be affected... and therefore it is a true collaboration, or at least sure feels that way so far. Thank you to Rob Daiker, Robert Ikiz, Brooke Lizotte, and Bengan Jonasson for being on this journey on stage in the UK and thank you to all who are attending these shows. So far it has been yet another positive step in being back in the midst of the 'music business', with a minor emphasis on the word business and a much welcomed focus on the 'music'. Looking forward to London tomorrow, then Dudley, Glasgow, Newcastle over the weekend and Manchester on Monday.
