Scottish indie group The Vaselines have confirmed details of their first album in over twenty years.
As comebacks go, the return of The Vaselines was hardly up there with Led Zeppelin at the O2. Yet for their devoted fans, the twee-indie duo are just as important as the 70s stadium rock behemoths.
Formed in Glasgow, The Vaselines initially made us of a drum machine to pad out their sound. However when the band ditched electronics they re-emerged as the most tender of indie outfits.
Recorded a two acclaimed EPs and one full length album the band split, to the mourning of a small but dedicated fan base. However over time the group's presence mushroomed, with the patronage of a certain Kurt Cobain largely credited for this.
Reforming in 1990 to support Nirvana, The Vaselines got back together on a permanent basis last year. Re-issuing their entire back catalogue on just two CDs, the band included unheard live material and demos as a bonus to fans.| News - Latest |

Pearl Jam's unreleased song Better Days has been leaked online, and apparently it's all because of a mysterious man named Pete who posted it online on behalf of the group's manager, Kelly Curtis.
"Gary, [manager] Kelly [Curtis] wanted you to hear this, please give it a listen," wrote Pete on the Monkey Wrench Records site - and minutes later the post was taken down.
But you can hear the track on the Antiquiet site. Reportedly, the song was from the band's 2002 Riot Act sessions, and it makes for a fascinating listen. Featuring some of Eddie Vedder's most forceful and emotive singing, hand percussion, according and mandolin, it's a hands-down winner. Surprising it was never properly released.

Welsh rock wizards Stereophonics have paid tribute to their former drummer Stuart Cable.
A founder member of Stereophonics, Stuart Cable played on their initial burst of albums. However relations in the band became strained, with the Welsh group finding their commercial star on the wane.
Cable and singer Kelly Jones fell out, leading to the drummer's departure. Going on to become a well respected figure in Welsh broadcasting, Stuart Cable sadly passed away early yesterday morning (June 8th).
However in an interview with BBC Wales Kelly Jones revealed that the pair patched up their friendship soon after the split. In a meeting one year after Cable left the band, the pair went down the pub to catch up.
Since then, they had remained friends with Kelly Jones explaining that he last saw Stuart Cable only a week ago. The singer paid tribute to the drummer, who he claimed was a good friend and wonderful musician.
Elsewhere, Welsh singer Cerys Matthews issued a statement saying she was "shocked and saddened" at the news of his death adding: "He was such generous company."
